Our Clinic Model
In modern China, acupuncture usually occurs daily or every other day for short courses of treatment. This “high frequency” treatment model is beginning to take root in the U.S. with the aim of replicating the excellent therapeutic results achieved in China. Our community treatment model enables us to provide high quality, appropriately frequent acupuncture treatment at affordable rates. The recommended frequency of appointments in our clinic is based on each patient’s needs; it may range from multiple treatments per week for more serious conditions to the occasional “tune up” for mild or occasional symptoms.
The S.W.A.P. clinic is a single room furnished with several massage tables. Several clients are scheduled per hour and are treated in the same room. While treatments take place in a group setting, medical confidentiality is maintained through discreet written and verbal communication between the patient and the acupuncturist. Patients complete an extensive health questionnaire prior to their initial appointments.
In keeping with Chinese medical tradition, all treatments are customized to the individual patient’s conditions and needs.
Any condition that responds to acupuncture therapy may be treated in the S.W.A.P. clinic. Acupuncture can be used to treat most kinds of pain, aches, fatigue, insomnia, stress, digestive problems, headaches and more.
Each individualized treatment is only $35.
Chinese Herbal Therapy
S.W.A.P. focuses primarily on acupuncture therapy. However, we will sometimes recommend herbal therapy when we believe it will be helpful. Our herbal pharmacy stocks formulations for internal and external use in pill and powder form.
Course and Duration of Treatment
How many treatments you will need depends on what condition you have, how long you’ve had it, and how quickly you respond to acupuncture. Often, a new injury or condition will respond faster than one you’ve had longer.
Studies in China have shown that around 95% of the population responds favorably to acupuncture treatment for a wide range of conditions. For most conditions, if after 8 to 10 treatments there is no change you may be referred to another modality or provider.
